Profile Drama: One the Woman (원 더 우먼) Network: SBS Episodes: 16 Release Date: September 17 – November 6, 2021 Runtime: Friday & Saturday 22:00-23:10 Language: Korean Country: South Korea
Plot A prosecutor gets into an accident, wakes up with amnesia and gets mistaken for the daughter in law of a corrupt company chairman.
Main Cast Lee Honey – Kang Mina / Cho Yeon Ju Lee Sang Yoon – Han Seung Wook Jin Seo Yeon – Han Sung Hye Lee Won Geun – An Yu Joon
Review Honey’s super pretty and funny as Cho Yeon Ju! The first few episodes when she had amnesia and battling her in laws were hilarious!! My favorite has got to be the english and vietnam speaking scenes. I love that she holds nothing back, she just speaks her mind, and doesn’t care for the in laws. And I love all her droolworthy corporate suits!
Lee Sang Yun’s gentle demeanor was perfect for Honey’s crazy antics. I just wish that he lightened up more so that he looked more natural on screen. But still, I love this pair – another dimple couple! And I was thrilled that after everything that has happened, they ended up together!
I also loved Yujun, he was loyal to Yeonju despite being rejected/having unrequited love. And it’s nice seeing Kim Chang Wan playing a nicer character. Kim Won Hae’s character was bad but I still couldnt hate him!
The in-laws were awful and sorry but Yeon Ju’s revenge on her mother in law (about his son’s death was cruel but fair after all the terrible things she did to Kang Mina). Too bad, the daughter and the other daughter in law weren’t very useful of the story. The father/chairman always plays the bad guy but I knew that he wasn’t the killer.
Sung Hye was too dumb a villain. I felt like she always whined for not getting the family business and her dad not trusting her. I’d say it’s because she has not done anything right to deserve it. She made a massive mistake that caused all the probems years ago, and she still hasn’t learned her lesson and continued being stupid. I wish the ending gave the brother the chance to take over the business and finally step up, because he was the only interesting character in the family.
There were a few episodes that were boring and took too long to reveal the villain but I loved the ending.
The main ost was as addicting as romantic sunday.. 🎵gitaro otobai taja taja🎶
Profile Movie: The Pirates (해적: 바다로 간 산적) Release Date: August 6, 2014 Runtime: 130 min. Distributor: Lotte Entertainment Country: South Korea
Plot Set during the time when Korea is being founded as a country, this movie is an epic swashbuckling adventure of pirates and bandits trying to retrieve the Royal Seal from a giant whale.
Main Cast: Kim Nam Gil – Jang Sa Jung Son Ye Jin – Yeo Wol Yu Hae Jin – Chul Bong Lee Kyoung Young – So Ma Kim Tae Woo – Mo Hong Gab
Review Never thought to see a pirates movie from Korea and it somehow worked. I think it took a lot of inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean but still distinctively Korean. However, with the ridiculous premise of the royal seal getting swallowed by a whale, I was expecting more comedy action than serious action. With Kim Nam Gil, Yu Hae Jin, Kim Won Hae in the cast, they could have used their comedic skills to put some fun in this drama. Like Robin Williams’ Hook.
Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this immensely, even with the silly plot. I have watched more Son Ye Jin dramas and movies where she is crying or getting romantic so it’s a nice change for me to see her to action (I know she can do action, just haven’t watched them). This movie is made up of a stellar cast, I didn’t name them all in the main cast section, just the main leads and the baddies.
The movie is quite long, the first part gave a background to set the expectations and motives of the story, the second part is how the two separate lives of Sa Jung and Yeo Wol get entangled together, and the third act is where everyone comes together to have an epic battle on the high seas. There was also a mini romance between Sa Jung and Yeo Wol which was inserted in and which I loved.
Overall, fun adventure movie good for a rainy Friday night!

Plot: A guy with a house falls in love with a girl who dreams of a home.
Main Cast: Kim Ji Suk – Yoo Ja Sung Jung Somin – Na Young Won Jung Gun Joo – Shin Gyeom Kim Won Hae – Choi Go Chae Jung Ahn – Yeo Ui Joo Ahn Chang Hwan – Nam Sang Soon
Review: Watch this if you like the classic romcoms kind of Kdramas. For newbies, you might get annoyed with how Jasung treats Young Won.
I think without a great cast, this could have been really bad. Yoo Jasung is an a$$hat at the start but somehow I couldn’t get angry at him because how could I when he is played by Kim Jisuk who has effortlessly hilarious and handsome. I like Jasung. He wasn’t being a jerk because he is a jerk. It’s just that he had a bad childhood and decided to focus all his energy into making money. So much that he has forgotten to live. I wouldn’t mind having a generous friend like Jasung hihi.
Somin’s character is a more upbeat version of BIMFL character. She is wonderful and charming. When Young won, who maybe poor but also still very warm, came into his life, he couldn’t help but thaw his ice cold heart. After all, what’s the use of having too much money when you can’t share your life with someone? I believe Jasung was drawn by Young won because like her, he understands how it is to be poor and not to have a home. And he was also impressed how much Young won was trying hard save up to have her own house. So much that he started helping her in his own little ways. Soon, he was spreading his goodwill to everyone in his team.
I knew that when he falls for Youngwon it will be hard. HAHA. I love Kim Ji Suk’s expressions like he was always so stunned by Young Won’s beauty and how everything she does is like so amazing. And everytime she gives him a compliment, his frown turns into a big humongous grin that makes him want to dance to Bboom Bboom. And I love that he never nagged her or looked down on her just because she didn’t have money or expected her to grovel at his feet because he is rich.
Jasung who was so obsessed with money never had a chance to date or have a relationship. Just like how he deals with money, he was determined to succeed in being the best boyfriend to Young Won. Of course being a newbie, he made a lot of mistakes, and I like that he was quick to say sorry or learn how to be better.
Of course, like everyday Kdrama, after getting together and being cute, there will be this defining moment where the couple argues and break up. In this case, Jasung broke up with Young Won for Shin Gyeom, the second lead. For me, Shin Gyeom was cute but boring. He was no match to Jasung’s charisma and energy. And he never had a chance with Young Won because she never liked him other than as a friend. So I feel like his character was a waster or was just there to have some sort of conflict. When Jasung found out that Gyeom likes Young Won too, he decided to break up with Young Won because of his loyalty for Gyeom. Some said it was a noble idiot move, but for me, it was more than that. Jasung have known Gyeom for years. It’s bros before hoes. And it’s his first time to be in love and didn’t know how to handle it. Maybe he should have talked to Young Won about it. Gave Young Won an opportunity to decide what to do since she is part of the relationship. Jasung could also have confronted Gyeom about it and talked about it like a man. Or maybe they didn’t have to break up, just lie low and not rub his relationship in Gyeom’s face. After all, love’s fair in love and war.
When Jasung finally realized what a fool he was and begged Young Won to take him back, i love that Young Won didn’t easily bend and made him worked hard for it. You go girl! He can’t just dump her ruthlessly and think he can come back as if nothing happened. She eventually learned that again, Jasung wasn’t being an ass and realized that all this time he has been there for her and cheered for her even if it’s hard for him to sometimes express how he feels.
As for the Wolganjib team, everyone was funny esp the second couple Sang Soon and Ui Joo. I also liked their story from being a bickering colleagues with different lifestyles to falling in love. Opposites do attract! Of course my fave Kim Won Hae was both annoying at times when he’s trying to be a “good” boss but I love him more as a better friend and confidante to Jasung, Ui Joo and Sang Soon.
I love all the houses that got featured in every episode and all the tidbits about home and money saving. My favorite was the beach house in episode 8 because I also dreamed of retired in a beach front property.
The OST is so nice, especially Imagine and Here I Am. Yup I just bought my own copy! Will do an unboxing video once it arrives.
Now to the worst thing that almost ruined the show. I hate when the writer thinks he/she needs to make an explosive or out of the box twist to end the show. I watched Drinking Solo and the ending was a disappointment, but this was worse than that. Up until episode 15 the drama was so nice and happy. I thought they were going to get their happy ever after. I even liked the twist with the connection between Young Won’s father and Jasung’s past. I thought, hey, that’s so perfect! The writer even found a way to close their childhood traumas and bring the story into a full circle!
But dang what the F happened?!? Young Won got so guilty and disappeared for 3(?) years. Okayyyy maybe we needed the time jump where Young Won works for someone else and not under her boyfriend’s company and where she can heal. Maybe when they meet again they will be “equal” and they will find love again. Their eventual meetup was so nice, at the same place where they had a day trip together, with the crowds blurring and centering on the couple. I remember the exact same scene in Drinking Solo when the couple was also eating at a restaurant and saw each other from the other table. Exact same thing. They could have ended MMH like this and I would have been satisfied. But no, we see Young Won showing Jasung her own big house that she built on her own in just 3 years. Like where did she get the money to buy a land and construct a big house? Where did she even go for 3 years? Turns out she was just working in another magazine. What??? Then how come Jasung never found her? She never even went overseas. And the biggest question of all.. are they getting back together? To me, it felt like they ended up being exes turned good friends. Or worse, like Jasung was just a mentor/big brother to Young Won. Awww.. I’m not happy with the ending but overall, I still loved this drama.

Review: I already saw a lot of spoilers before I started watching so I think it took a bit of enjoyment from watching this drama.
Beautiful ending. It was sad but still beautiful. It took him 40 years to finally move on 😭 cant imagine how that feels. But im happy they found her so he can always visit her when he misses her.
As always May has come. this is the 41st year of May since I lost you, Myeong Hee. All this time, my life felt like swimming during a rising tide. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t move forward, and I even tried to let myself drown. But when I woke up, that tide had pushed me back, to that May inside my heart. It felt so cruel that I lived in resentment.
For a very long time, I lived in regret and thought throughout my life. If I hadn’t gone to Gwangju in May of that year. If I hadn’t met you in Gwangju. If I hadn’t let go of your hand in those woods, would you still be alive? But on this 41st May when you’ve finally returned, I now realize that I was the one who chose to do all that. In May of that year, I chose to go to Gwangju, and chose to love you with all my heart.
I prayed everyday that worse pains in life would come to me instead of you. If I had been the one to die in the crossroads of life and death, and you had lived, you would’ve experienced the tides that I had experienced all this time. The life of the one who was left behind. Hence, I’ve finally realized, that what I experienced all this time, was the Lord’s way of answering my prayer. Those lonely and painful 41 years were merely my love for you.
The remaining years of my life, will be an answer to your prayer. No matter how many more times the rising tide pushes me back to that May, I have you here now. Until we meet again, I will swim against the tide with all my might.
All through out i kept thinking whose fault it was. I’d say they were too young and made emotional decisions. If they more more mature they probably wouldn’t have died. Had Hee Tae stopped pursuing her, Myung Hee could have gone to Germany and lived. Or Hee Tae could have married Suryeon to appease the family and live separate lives. Or he could follow to Germany in a few years. But I also came to the same conclusion as Hee Tae. They chose to fight for each other so although it was hard, they made that choice and they have to live with the consequences. At least they had that May that he will always remember. Better to have loved and lost than to not have loved at all.
I, Kim Myeong Hee, refuse to be buried alive with Hwang Hee Tae. Lord, if something unexpected happens, and we have to let go of each others hand please dont let the sorrow overwhelm the lives of those left behind. Even if the tears we shed fill up to our chins, please dont let us drown and give us the power and courage to swin safely throughout this life.
Looking back, I think the one who is at fault is Myung Soo. Lol. I know, he was too young and didn’t mean to do it. But later on he must have realized he basically killed his dad and sister in one night because of his foolishness. Maybe that’s why he ended up being a priest.
Mixed feelings about Suryeon. She was mostly selfish which is weird since she is brave protesting against the government but she cant even protect her best friend. But I think it’s not her fault — Hee Tae would have met and pursued Myung Hee even without the blind date. And i didnt feel enough remorse from her over Myung Hee even in the present, she was nowhere to be found, just a brief statement that she is now a lawyer.
Myunghee’s dad 😭😭😭 and all those brave and innocent people who died that time. 🙏
Myeong Soo said this to me one day. That the runner who runs way in the front does nothing but block the wind for the others. He said it was your loss if you stood in the front from the beginning. Perhaps I lived my life always in the front, blocking the wind with my whole body. I was that runner who was in the front. I was afraid you’d be hit by the wind like me. What if your wings were hurt from the hardships of this world? I hoped you wouldn’t stand in the front like me and always tried to hold you back. But your wings were strong enough to endure any kind of wind. If I just let you go you would have ridden the wind and flew up high into the sky. Since everything that happened wasn’t your fault, just leave it behind with me. And from now on, let your wings carry you freely wherever you want to go.
I wish the ending was longer. i wanted to know what happened to them 40 years later and how they feel about what happened. And where is Soochan?
