Review: I almost missed watching this drama because it wasn’t hyped by people, but I’m glad I did because this was a great drama! I loved the transformation of Hyunsoo from being a naive college student to a man forced to grow up fast in order to survive. Hyunsoo didn’t say much throughout the drama but you can feel his desperation and loneliness though his eyes and his tears (although sometimes the crying was OA).
I love Shin Joong Han. He really tried his best to defend Hyunsoo, it’s just that police and prosecution already made up their minds and it’s hard to investigate all the possible suspects alone In just a short time. Still he was able to do it. Better late than never. I wish he finds a magic solution that will cure his atopic dermatitis!
I hated the prosecutor and chief of police! I know they really thought they had the right person and I’m glad they still had a conscience and let Hyunsoo go. What I didn’t like was they made it seem like they were the one who investigated and found the killer and didn’t even apologize to Hyunsoo. One got promoted, the other got an honorary retirement. How about Hyunsoo and his family? How can they move on after this? How about Joong Han who was the only one who believed in Hyunsoo and sought justice? He is still stuck in the same 3rd rate position (although I’m sure he will continue fighting for justice).
Do Ji Tae was such a memorable character! He was so hot lol and was almost like a mentor to Hyunsoo. The ongoing fight with Dooshik was repetitive but was shocked with what happened in the end!! I almost thought that Hyunsoo might takeover from Do Ji Tae and be the new lion of northern prison.
I didn’t watch the BBC drama so I don’t know how closely they followed it and if the ending is the same. I don’t think he jumped, I think he spent the day thinking about his life and what to do now. Can he resume being a normal college student? Did Do Ji Tae’s death left a big impression on him? Will he follow Joong Han and become a lawyer defending innocent people like him? The possibilities are endless. Again he didn’t speak much so we don’t really know what he’s thinking. I’d like to believe he will come out of this a better stronger person and less naive.
I saw that BBC had two seasons. Hope there will be S2 with Kim Yoo Jung (though not sure if she is really ready to do something different than her usual sageuks)!
We’re halfway done with the story and I’m still loving this weekend drama, mainly because of the 2 leads, Young Guk and Dandan. The rest of the cast, not so much but story is still addicting to watch.
Episodes 13 and 14 focused on the blossoming romance between Young Guk and Dandan, with Young Guk unsure of falling in love with a much younger girl and Dandan being so brave to confess to her boss and a man way older than her.
Jo Sara, still deluding herself to be the best match for Young Guk can’t believe Young Guk doesn’t like her even if she made every effort for him. It doesn’t count if Young Guk doesn’t like you back, honey. Don’t demand that he has to like you back just because you do. To be honest, I’m not even sure when Sara is getting her thick face from. Not to demean her, but she isn’t successful, she is hiding an illegitimate child that she can’t even be honest, and she is manipulative liar, and lastly, she doesn’t even care for the kids, except for Sejong. What makes her think Young Guk will like her if she treats his kids that way?
Normally, I also will be skeptical in this kind of relationship, but since I know them both from watching them, and I do have friends married with a large age gap, and I want to say that each couple/relationship is different. And we should all mind our own business. As long as the couple are happy, then should be fine. As friends or acquaintances, all we can do is understand them. But of course, if we feel like something is wrong, then we should also tell our friend.
I totally didn’t expect the amnesia plot and I hate how Sara, her thief mom an the stepmom are being this horrible people around Young Guk. I can understand the stepmom although I don’t pity her, but Sara and her mom are irritating! How can you say that you love the guy and lie to his face?? It’s ridiculous! I’m just glad that even though Young Guk is 22yo, he is still sharp enough to make his own decisions.
I’m loving that Young Guk and Dandan are still falling in love all over again. Just shows that even with amnesia, even if Young Guk was still young and single, he will still choose Dandan over Sara.
Can’t wait for the next episodes!! I hope Young Guk gets his memory back. 10 episodes of amnesia has gone long enough and i can’t stand another minute of lying Sara. I want Young Guk to kick her out of the house, even the stepmom. And I’m waiting for the day when the stepmom finally founds out who stole her gold and cash. Sara and her mom deserves to go to prison!! (although being a weekend drama, they probably will still get a happy ever after!! ugh!!)
Speaking of happy ever after, I wish they don’t pair Sara with Uncle Guk. Seriously, Uncle Guk is one of the nicest guys in this drama and he doesn’t deserve a bitch of a wife.
I still don’t like the story of Dae Bum and Se Ryeon, I think if Dae Bum is serious, he should man up and work harder. and I think Se Ryeon, instead of making Dae Bum a boytoy, she should help him study and setup capital for a business to help him be successful.
Another character I love is Dandan’s father, Soo Chul. I honestly want him to get back together with Anna Kim, although I know that’s going to be hard since he is married to another bum (ugh!! another hateful character). I hate how she fake cries, i know she is better than Sara’s mom, but sometimes she is too greedy. Instead of helping Soo Chul, she just prefers to wait for money from her children and easy life instead of work. Plus, I’m sure once Soo chul finds out who Anna is, there will be hell.

Plot Season 2 continues from the first season as we see the 5 friends/doctors and their relationship with their patients, colleagues, families and partners.

Season two was not as exciting as Season 1 but I still loved their relationship and seeing their day to day activities.
The first few songs released didn’t feel as nice as s1 but made up for it in the latter part. Hearing my old favorites like “I Love You More Than Anything” by Bijou and “Already One Year” by Browneyes being remade is so nice, since the younger generation and newbie Kdrama and Kpop fans can listen and enjoy these classic hits. Plus the unexpected cover of Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” by Ikjun (and the acoustic version sung by Yoon Mirae). We also get to see Jeon Mido sing in her normal voice in that episode when they were singing karaoke – Junwan and Iksun thought Songhwa had terrible singing voice, but to Ikjun she was like an angel (she sang Come on Baby Tonight – i dont know the original singer, i just know the FinKL version).
The friends started out as single, now they all have someone by their side. Esp loved Ikjun-Songhwa and Seokhyung-Minha. I didnt like what Iksun did to Junwan but still loved them. Never been a fan of Winter Garden. Rosa and Director was also great! I just thought that just because they were now coupled out doesn’t mean they will spend less time with each other. I didn’t like how Ikjun said this might be their last performance. In season 1, Jeongwon and Junwan had gf but they continued to meet up regularly. I dont see how they can start being busy when Minha is just in the hospital like Gyeol and Songhwa is already part of the group.
Each episode was sooo long that I honestly fast forwarded a lot of the medical scenes, esp those in the operating room. It’s because there wasn’t any tense situations, almost always the doctors have successful surgery. I wished they lessened that part and focused more on the personal relationships. In season 1, Gyeol had a huge crush on Jeongwon who never showed her liked her more than as an intern but then last episode he suddenly confessed and they were a couple. In season 2, Seokhyung has been turning down Minha all this time but then again he had an epiphany (and I dont know when or why or how) and confessed to Minha that he likes her. Not only that, but Jeongwon in the last episode again dropped a bomb that he will go to the US to study about bowel transplant and Gyeol is coming with him. Like what? What for? Doesn’t she have her own life? What will she do there for 1 year? I didn’t think they had to be together even in their professional lives. A lot of fans may kill me, but I never felt any chemistry between Winter Garden.
There were less stories about the nurses and interns this season but i loved the episode about the importance of the ER team.
One of my fave characters this season is Jaehak, his bromance with Junwan, his story about his wife and getting his money back from the scammer!
I’m gonna miss the group but I don’t think season 3 is necessary.
