Review: I think I already said everything in my mini recaps. Overall, this could have been way better had the writer not do the second amnesia and make Sara go borderline psychotic. Likewise I wish we had more good scenes between Young Guk and Dandan. All they did was cry for half of the show.
More than halfway through and this weekend drama keeps going downhill, which is really unfortunate because this started so well, like a fun and light family drama. I don’t know if the writer got drunk and changed the story from nice though flawed characters to psycho selfish people.
I’m still rooting for Young Guk and Dandan’s happy ever after. Even though Young Guk is also to blame sometimes for the heartache, I know he just wants Dandan and the people around him happy. But please let your Chairman personality finally show up because I’m so tired of bitchy Sara, the raging stepmom, Dandan’s selfish parents plus money hungry stepmom.
The kids continue to be the happy pill in this drama. I just want the kids to be happy and see more family activities like this. But can they let Jaeni in on the happiness, because she is being kept in the dark for so long.
Anna Kim and Dandan’s dad are the worst people in this drama. Esp Dandan’s dad who has no shame. yes, Young Guk is older and has 3 kids, I get that, but like Yeonshil said, it’s not like he’s a criminal. He still looks young for his age, respectful and a sweet husband and father. I’m sure Young Guk will support Dandan in whatever career or decision she makes.
I’m not even bothered with the rest of the stories. Even Daebeom and Seryeon’s story is boring. Poor Uncle Geon is too smitten with Sara to see how awful she is. Yeonshil pulling Anna Kim’s hair is funny but Yeonshil is also terrible parent.
I’m way behind because it’s difficult to motivate myself to continue watching, but I will see through the end because I already spent months (since 2021!) watching the drama.
And because i can’t wait for this drama to be OVER and catch the drama that will replace this, which will stars Yoon Si Yoon!!! 🙂
We’re halfway done with the story and I’m still loving this weekend drama, mainly because of the 2 leads, Young Guk and Dandan. The rest of the cast, not so much but story is still addicting to watch.
Episodes 13 and 14 focused on the blossoming romance between Young Guk and Dandan, with Young Guk unsure of falling in love with a much younger girl and Dandan being so brave to confess to her boss and a man way older than her.
Jo Sara, still deluding herself to be the best match for Young Guk can’t believe Young Guk doesn’t like her even if she made every effort for him. It doesn’t count if Young Guk doesn’t like you back, honey. Don’t demand that he has to like you back just because you do. To be honest, I’m not even sure when Sara is getting her thick face from. Not to demean her, but she isn’t successful, she is hiding an illegitimate child that she can’t even be honest, and she is manipulative liar, and lastly, she doesn’t even care for the kids, except for Sejong. What makes her think Young Guk will like her if she treats his kids that way?
The kids obviously adore Dandan more than Sara and would probably help them get together if they only knew!
Normally, I also will be skeptical in this kind of relationship, but since I know them both from watching them, and I do have friends married with a large age gap, and I want to say that each couple/relationship is different. And we should all mind our own business. As long as the couple are happy, then should be fine. As friends or acquaintances, all we can do is understand them. But of course, if we feel like something is wrong, then we should also tell our friend.
I totally didn’t expect the amnesia plot and I hate how Sara, her thief mom an the stepmom are being this horrible people around Young Guk. I can understand the stepmom although I don’t pity her, but Sara and her mom are irritating! How can you say that you love the guy and lie to his face?? It’s ridiculous! I’m just glad that even though Young Guk is 22yo, he is still sharp enough to make his own decisions.
I’m loving that Young Guk and Dandan are still falling in love all over again. Just shows that even with amnesia, even if Young Guk was still young and single, he will still choose Dandan over Sara.
Can’t wait for the next episodes!! I hope Young Guk gets his memory back. 10 episodes of amnesia has gone long enough and i can’t stand another minute of lying Sara. I want Young Guk to kick her out of the house, even the stepmom. And I’m waiting for the day when the stepmom finally founds out who stole her gold and cash. Sara and her mom deserves to go to prison!! (although being a weekend drama, they probably will still get a happy ever after!! ugh!!)
Speaking of happy ever after, I wish they don’t pair Sara with Uncle Guk. Seriously, Uncle Guk is one of the nicest guys in this drama and he doesn’t deserve a bitch of a wife.
I still don’t like the story of Dae Bum and Se Ryeon, I think if Dae Bum is serious, he should man up and work harder. and I think Se Ryeon, instead of making Dae Bum a boytoy, she should help him study and setup capital for a business to help him be successful.
Another character I love is Dandan’s father, Soo Chul. I honestly want him to get back together with Anna Kim, although I know that’s going to be hard since he is married to another bum (ugh!! another hateful character). I hate how she fake cries, i know she is better than Sara’s mom, but sometimes she is too greedy. Instead of helping Soo Chul, she just prefers to wait for money from her children and easy life instead of work. Plus, I’m sure once Soo chul finds out who Anna is, there will be hell.
So I’m back to watching another KBS weekend drama! This time it’s a cute and heartwarming show about a widower, his 3 children, and a young live-in tutor. Below are some of the initial thoughts about the drama.
I love that the show is fast paced for a 50 episode drama. I didn’t even realize that I was in episode 12 (that’s like more than half way in a regular Kdrama)
There are a lot of stuff happening here. I honestly don’t like the Jo Sara and her mom – they are both annoying and trying hard to fit in and become rich. I want to like the Young Guk’s stepmother but it’s very hard to like her when she is so whiny and manipulative. The actress is also overacting.
I love the story of Dandan’s family (except for the mom who is useless). I like Dae Bum and Young Guk’s half sister’s short lived romance. I’m sure they’ll end up together eventually but for now, Dae Bum needs to earn money and be successful before he can come back to Se Ryeon. I also find Uncle Guk super cute, but ugh!! why will he end up with the scheming b*tch Sara?!? As for the cousin Mirin, I feel bad for her, she sometimes look out of place since her parents are gone, and I don’t like her potential loveline to Jun Oh. Quite assuming of her to think that Jun Oh likes her or is stalking her when she isn’t even pretty!
I love Dandan’s father, I totally didn’t expect that he turned out to be Mi Sook’s long lost brother!! So that means they could have been a rich family, which kind of makes Dandan look equal to Young Guk in terms of social standing. I can’t wait for Sara to find out about that link. I’m also curious how Dandan’s father will react once he finds out Anna Kim is his wife who left him all those years ago!! Part of me is wishing they get back together because the current wife is really useless, but half of me is also angry at her for leaving. Dandan will probably get mad at Anna Kim once she finds out the truth.
So far so good, it’s makjang but not hair pulling makjang. It has a lot of good wholesome moments especially with the kids. Hope the confession between Young Guk and Dandan will be look natural and not too weird.
